It is not uncommon for seekers to give up on the Law of
Attraction at the first sign of disappointment. In frustration
they proclaim, "The Law of Attraction doesn't work!" But, it
does. It really does. And I can say this without hesitation
because after twenty plus years of study, experimentation and
many go-rounds with my own personal frustration, I've done the
work to understand the advanced concepts that are fundamental to
effective implementation of The Law of Attraction.
There are many reasons why success eludes metaphysical seekers:
distorted expectations, misinterpretation of teachings, and
giving up too soon are just a few. One of the most far-reaching
reasons has to do with lack of discipline. Many people just
aren't willing to do what it takes to experience success. And
yet, if you're willing to embrace the "disciplines of
self-management," the Universe opens its abundant doors to you.
Self-management refers to the idea that as spiritual beings
having a human experience, we are subject to behaviors,
tendencies and instincts that grab our attention and serve to
distract us from who we really are and what our souls really
want. As a life coach and counselor I've found that these
obstacles boil down to four areas of distraction. When we
understand these "attraction distractions" and practice
techniques to manage our human nature, we effectively get out of
our own way and realize our greatest aspirations.
The Attraction Distractions
Although these behaviors, tendencies and instincts are
expressions of our humanity, they are not character traits that
you can necessarily get rid of. Instead, ultimate success comes
from self acceptance, not self-rejection. The four attraction
distractions are:
The Ego - Your ego is that part of you that
maintains the
illusion that you are separate from Source. When you feel
separate from Source, you feel alone. You disconnect from your
Source of love, safety and supply. So, your perspective moves
into an illusory world of limitation - a world where supply of
all things is finite, a world where love and support are
conditional, a world where your self-perception is dictated by
comparison to others and is based in a perception of limitation.
Limiting Beliefs - Your beliefs become limiting
beliefs when you
believe in scarcity, limitation and conditionality. To believe
in scarcity means to believe that there is not enough - not
enough love, not enough good, not enough forgiveness, not enough
money, not enough time - simply not enough. This scarcity
consciousness can apply to anything and everything. When you
believe in limitation, it means you believe in the apparent
finality of our physical world. You've bought into the idea that
reality is what you can assess with your five senses. You've
adopted human judgments and perceptions as truth.
Emotions - Many people have a relationship with
their emotions
that is stilted, or unconscious, at best. This is a big problem
because a) emotions are an unbelievable force in the creation of
your dream life and b) if you are living out this life as a mere
mortal, as most of us are, life is an emotional prospect. Most
of us have a relationship with our emotions that based on
control. Either we are trying to control our emotions, or they
are controlling us. But to have the slightest sense of the
purpose and creative power of our emotions... well, that is just
not commonplace awareness.
Attachment - Attachment is the opposite of letting
go. It is the
feeling that has us hold on tightly to a person, situation or
thing we feel we must have. It is a common reaction that is
based on the idea that happiness and fulfillment come from
things, people and conditions outside us. When we are attached
to something, we make that external thing our source, rather
than turning within to our true source. When we look outside
ourselves for our fulfillment, we are in essence telling
ourselves that we are not whole, that our wholeness is outside
ourselves, that we are separate from our wholeness.
The world is your oyster, IF you're willing to do what it takes.
When you practice relating to your humanity in productive ways,
you begin to access that part of you that is more than human. We
embrace and manage our distractions. We do not dismiss or
destroy them. By integrating the ego, dismantling limiting
beliefs, harnessing the power of emotions and soothing our
attachments we begin to get out of our own way, clearing the
path to our infinite power as co-creators.
